Sport and Movement Activity in Scoliotic Patients
Šrámková, Anna ; Šafářová, Marcela (advisor) ; Oplatková, Lenka (referee)
This research thesis deals with the issue of sports in scoliosis. Its aim is to process professional studies that have examined the prevalence of scoliosis in various sports disciplines and to provide recommendations for sports activities for scoliotic patients. The thesis describes suitable and unsuitable sports or movement activities for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and explores whether it is appropriate to prohibit movement for these patients or not. We assume that physical activity in patients with scoliosis is more appropriate than an absolute ban on sports. This assumption was confirmed in this thesis, although there are sports that can cause postural asymmetry and possibly even scoliosis. The level at which the sports activity is performed and the volume of activity are important. As part of the research thesis, a case study of one scoliotic patient was included, and X-ray examination was used as an objective method of evaluation, which was performed twice with a time interval.
Physiotherapy in scoliosis after the surgery
Kačírková, Hana ; Šafářová, Marcela (advisor) ; Rampová, Michaela (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to present information regarding the surgical treatment of scoliosis and care for the operated patient. The options of the operation, its indications, contraindications, risks and goals are presented. The thesis describes the care of the patient preoperatively, perioperatively and postoperatively, and the procedures used and recommended measures are presented. The effect of scoliosis on the patient and the changes after surgery are mentioned. The assumption is that physiotherapy has a positive effect on the outcome of the surgical intervention. Part of the practical part is a case report of a patient with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis after surgery by the posterior approach fusion technique. This patient regularly attended physiotherapy and exercised intensively. As part of the case report, a kinesiological analysis was performed supplemented by functional tests from DNS, dynamic tests, examination of breathing stereotype and measurement of chest flexibility. The examination was carried out twice four months apart. The results were compared with each other with the assumption that continuous rehabilitation before and after surgery will bring improvement in the monitored tests. This assumption was confirmed.
Analysis of the influence of the fixation setting of the fusion of the spinal vertebrae on the resulting correction of scoliosis
Kopecký, Tomáš ; Ščerba, Bořek (referee) ; Vosynek, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the numerical modeling of the spine with an established fixation device under three types of loading, with three types of connection between the last element of the fixator and its guiding rod. The thesis describes the creation of the spine and fixator models, as well as the setting of loading conditions. Three loading states are monitored, in both directions: flexion/extension, lateral bending in both directions, and axial rotation in both directions. Furthermore, the implementation of three types of connections for all these loadings is described. In the first case, the entire fixator is immovable, in the second case, the last element of the fixator can move along the axis of the spine, and in the last case, it can also rotate in all three directions. The evaluation and subsequent comparison of deformation in the direction of the spine axis are the outputs of this thesis. The final evaluation is that the displacement occurring is on the order of tenths of millimeters.
Treatment in neuromuscular scoliosis
Štumbauerová, Karolína ; Šafářová, Marcela (advisor) ; Šonská, Kristýna (referee)
Bakalářská práce Terapie neuromuskulárních skolióz 1 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to present the methods of therapy of neuromuscular scoliosis in the Czech Republic and in the world and to compare their effects on the basis of published research. The theoretical part describes the basic anatomy of the spine, biomechanical view of the spine and its pathology. Subsequently, the concept of scoliosis is characterized, the classification of scoliosis according to different criteria and idiopathic scoliosis is briefly described. Neuromuscular scoliosis, its definition, classification and the most common disease in pediatric patients, where secondary scoliosis develops and is an integral part of the clinical picture of the underlying disease, are described in detail. The basic examination of idiopathic scoliosis and specifics for the examination of neuromuscular scoliosis are then described. Last but not least, the therapy in the Czech Republic and subsequently abroad is reviewed. The practical part of the thesis is based on a case report of a patient with primary disease spinal muscular atrophy type I who developed neuromuscular scoliosis. Based on the initial kinesiological analysis, an appropriate therapy will be selected. The Cobb angle will be monitored as an objective parameter.
Sledování posturálních a respiračních funkcí u pacientů se skoliózou
PEVNÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with a description of the kinesiology of the spine, defining the term scoliosis and classification of scoliosis, focuses on respiratory function, deep stabilization system, and its connection with respiratory and postural functions. At the end of the theoretical part, respiratory physiotherapy and its individual methods are described, which are widely used in patients with scoliosis. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the treatment options for patients with scoliosis, which was fulfilled in the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis, and in the form of case studies to describe therapeutic procedures affecting postural and respiratory functions in specific patients. The practical part of the bachelor´s thesis is conducted in the form of qualitative research, because the research sample consists of three adult patients who were diagnosed with the scoliosis. The sub-targets are verified through individual therapies lasting between two and three months, during which postural and respiratory functions in specific patients are monitored. The results of the survey are recorded in a brief evaluation of the effectiveness of the therapy. The bachelor thesis can be used by physiotherapists as an inspiration for therapeutic procedures in individual patients, or it can serve as educational material for the general public, who would like to learn more about the topic of scoliosis or methods used in the treatment of scoliosis.
The influence of yoga on patients with scoliotic posture in sedentary type of work
SOPKOVÁ, Daniela
Subject of this Bachelor Thesis is an impact of yoga on patients with the scoliotic posture in sedentary type of work. Content of the Bachelor Thesis consists of theoretical as well as practical aspects. The theoretical part defines terms such as the scoliotic posture, sedentary job and yoga. Particularly, the theoretical part involves examination procedures testing the scoliotic posture, methods and concepts of the scoliotic posture treatment as well as its correction and, last but not least, impact of yoga on the scoliotic posture based on outcomes of current research and studies. Objective of the thesis is summarization of the theoretical knowledge relating to the scoliotic posture and the sedentary type of a job. Additional aim was based on outcomes of elaborated casuistry of patients that resulted in an exercise unit creation consisting of some elements of yoga and monitoring of particular impact of the established exercise unit on the scoliotic posture of the observed patients. The practical part consists of qualitative research that includes elaborated casuistries of three patients at the age of 30 to 50 years with the sedentary type of jobs who suffer from the scoliotic posture. Component parts of the casuistries represent taken medical anamneses, input and output of kinesiology analysis, a therapy schedule and course of the therapy description. Based on medical outcomes an exercise unit with some yoga elements was compiled, which took place in the form of group exercises once a week for 3 months. Throughout the therapies accomplishment the scoliotic posture improvement, pain and discomfort relieve, and the breathing stereotype change was observed. These facts imply that the yoga therapy has a positive effect on the scoliotic posture. This presented thesis could serve as an educational material for students of physiotherapy, yoga instructors as well as the general public.

Comparison of the size of scoliosis curve in patients with idiopathic scoliosis from x-ray picture and rasterstereography record
Bilinkiewiczová, Eva ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Doubková, Lucie (referee)
Scoliosis is defined as a patological curvature of spinal cord of more than 10ř in frontal plane which is combined with rotation of vertebral bodies and also with disruption of fyziological curvatures in sagittal plane. Idiopathic scoliosis is the most frequent type of this diagnosis. The thesis deals with overal issue of this disease, theories of etiology, incidence, classification, types of examination, possibilities of new testing and therapy. The practical part describes rasterstereographic DIERS Formetric III 4D testing and coparison with RTG examination. The study was carried out with 17 girls and 1 boy with idiopathic scoliosis 11 - 46ř at the age of 11 - 17 years. Results of this testing were statistically analysed. Best results were found out in measurements by automatically set range for a group of patients with Cobb angle ≤ 25ř - for 95% differences the limits of correspondance were ± 4ř, the average error was 0,3ř. For group of all patients the limits of correspondance were ± 14ř, the average error was 1,5ř. The results confirmed, that with an increase of Cobb ange a bigger error and systematic error appears.
